Jonathan Buczkowski

Jonathan Buczkowski is Vice President, Autonomy at Birdon, where he leads the company’s autonomy strategy, advanced concepts development, and autonomous maritime systems portfolio. In this role, he is responsible for driving innovation, product development, technology integration, and technical strategy across Birdon’s growing portfolio of autonomous and uncrewed surface vessel programs, helping position the company at the forefront of next-generation maritime capabilities.

Prior to assuming this role, Jonathan served as Birdon’s Advanced Concepts Director and as Lead Engineer for the U.S. Coast Guard’s Motor Lifeboat (MLB) Program. He transitioned from the aviation industry to the maritime sector, bringing extensive experience in regulatory compliance, engineering design, rapid prototyping, testing, and product development. Jonathan has also consulted extensively on LEAN business practices and has developed training programs focused on design for manufacturability, project management, and strategic execution.

Throughout his career, Jonathan has contributed to two companies achieving AS9100 accreditation and has supported numerous military and commercial aviation programs, including ISR platforms for the U.S. Air Force, Black Hawk helicopters for the U.S. Army, and multiple FAA Type and Supplemental Type Certificate programs. His diverse background in aerospace, maritime engineering, and emerging autonomous technologies provides a unique perspective as Birdon continues to expand its capabilities in autonomous and unmanned systems.

Jonathan lives in Denver with his wife, Brinley, and their three children.
